Telehealth Therapy in New Jersey & New York
What you do know is that something needs to change. The anxiety that follows you everywhere. The sadness that won't lift no matter what you try. The way your emotions can go from zero to a hundred before you even realize what's happening. The relationships that keep running into the same walls. You're tired of feeling stuck, tired of managing on your own, tired of wondering if this is just how life is going to be.
Quality Therapy from Wherever You Are
You don't need to sit in traffic or rearrange your entire day to get support. Telehealth brings therapy to you, whether you're at home, in your car during a lunch break, or anywhere you have privacy and a stable internet connection.
At Minisink Psychology, we offer the same evidence-based treatment via telehealth that we provide in person. DBT, CBT, ART, and all our services are available through secure video sessions. The quality of care doesn't change; only the location does.
We serve clients throughout New Jersey and New York State. If you live anywhere in these states and want to work with a DBT-certified therapist specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, or emotion dysregulation, telehealth makes it possible.

Is Online Therapy Right for You?
Telehealth works well for most people and most concerns. You might prefer online sessions if you:
- Live outside the Ridgewood area but want specialized DBT or trauma treatment
- Have a schedule that makes commuting to appointments difficult
- Feel more comfortable talking from your own space
- Have mobility limitations or health concerns that make travel challenging
- Prefer the convenience of logging on rather than driving
- Want to continue therapy while traveling or during schedule changes
Telehealth is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, PTSD, emotion dysregulation, and relationship concerns. The modalities we use, including DBT, CBT, and ART, all translate well to video format.
What to Expect from Online Therapy Sessions
Getting started with telehealth is simple. Here's what the process looks like:
Before Your Session
You'll receive a secure link via email before your appointment. Click the link at your scheduled time from any device with a camera and microphone. No special software is required.
During Your Session
Sessions run the same length as in-person appointments. We'll talk, work on skills, and address whatever you're bringing in, just as we would if you were sitting in our office. The only difference is the screen between us.
Between Sessions
Any materials, worksheets, or homework can be shared electronically. If you're doing DBT and using diary cards, we'll review them together on screen. Everything that happens in person can happen virtually.
A Different Way to Let It Go
This consultation offers space to talk about what’s been lingering and explore whether ART could help reduce its hold, without needing to relive details or commit to anything yet.
Setting Up for Successful Telehealth Sessions
To get the most from online therapy, you'll need:
- A private space where you can speak openly without being overheard
- A reliable internet connection
- A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer)
- Headphones (recommended for additional privacy)
That's it. We use a HIPAA-compliant platform that protects your confidentiality. Your sessions are secure and private.

Frequently Asked Questions About Telehealth
Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?
Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person treatment for most concerns. The therapeutic relationship, skill-building, and progress happen regardless of the medium.
What if I have technical difficulties during a session?
Technology hiccups happen. If we get disconnected, try rejoining the session link. If problems persist, we'll finish the session by phone and troubleshoot for next time. You won't lose your session time.
Is telehealth covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans now cover telehealth at the same rate as in-person sessions. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage.
Can I switch between telehealth and in-person?
Yes. Many clients do a mix of both based on their schedule and preferences. We're flexible and happy to accommodate whatever works best for you.
What if I don't feel comfortable on video?
It can feel awkward at first. Most clients adjust within the first session or two. If video continues to feel uncomfortable, we can discuss whether in-person sessions might be a better fit.
Schedule Your Telehealth Consultation
A free 15-minute consultation is the first step. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, answer your questions about telehealth, and determine whether we're a good fit. You can complete the entire process, from consultation to ongoing treatment, without ever leaving home.
